I want to share my travel experience which might be helpful for others.

I travelled alone from Patna to Toronto via New Delhi on Air India flight on 27th March, Saturday.
I am on closed work permit status.
BEFORE TRAVEL DATE
RT-PCR Test: Got my RT-PCR test done on Friday morning. A negative report is checked at several places, so this is important for everyone except those who are exempted.
Arrive CAN app: Installed the app and filled the questionnaire to generate the receipt. It’s a good idea to keep a screenshot of the receipt just in case WiFi connection does not work at destination. This app requires details about travel date, isolation, quarantine etc.
3 Day Hotel Booking: Booked the Hampton Inn and Suites and costed me just over 1100 CAD.
Switch Health: Good to register on Switch Health although I did not. I was asked to register just before COVID test at airport.
I was asked for COVID negative report at Patna airport. After verifying the visa, my luggage was checked in thorough till Toronto. I was allowed 2 check in baggage 23 kgs each, 1 carry on and 1 personal item.
Domestic flight between Patna and Delhi was as usual. Had to go through immigration and security at New Delhi. Before boarding the flight, boarding pass was stamped with RT-PCR negative verified for all passengers. While boarding, an Air India staff was randomly checking weight of carry on luggage for some passengers.

JOURNEY
International flight from Delhi to Toronto was fully packed and I could not see a single free seat. The seats were very comfortable. A snacks packet was available on each seat (see pics). Breakfast was served after about 4-5 hours. Lunch was served couple of hours before landing. Tea and drinks were served only on request. In-flight entertainment was working on few seats and disabled on few. If requested, crew members were enabling the screen to work wherever possible. Water bottles were available at the back seat without needing to ask the crew members.

  • Before landing, we were given 2 forms to fill- one for customs and another for quarantine.
TORONTO AIRPORT
  • Passengers were allowed to deboard in shifts starting from the front rows.
  • Immigration was a breeze. Passport,COVID report, hotel booking, Arrive Can receipt and those 2 forms were checked. Work permit was issued in another hall which had several counters.
  • After collecting baggage, we had to go through Customs and submit the custom form.
  • Then, queue up for COVID test. Separate queue for people who had already registered on Switch Health. Samples could be given by blowing nose on tissue or with nasal swabs. At the end we were given self testing kit for Day 10 test.
  • The queue for shuttle was long and it took more than an hour to get hotel shuttle. Wait times could be less if there are less people for a particular hotel or if shuttle frequency is more. The shuttle driver does not help with the luggage.
  • I will be posting detailed review of the hotel also in few days. If you have any questions, pls feel free to comment.
