60 Passengers reached Toronto from Mumbai via muscat

1). We booked a ticket from Mumbai - Muscat - Frankfurt - Toronto

2). Mumbai checked all the docs- arrive Can, negative report etc, positive report ( i was infected in last 14 to 90 days) to get exemption from arrival testing and 3 day hotel stay in Canada. They approved me. 

3). We reached Muscat safely  via Oman air on 2nd June by 12pm afternoon. In Muscat, they did our rt pcr test, we were given lounge for 12 hrs to wait for result and next flight to Frankfurt which is at 2am on 3rd June.

4). We were  around 60 - 70 passengers. Around 11 clock, we got result. 

• 10 of us got positive result. 

5). In this 10 people, 1 was minor girl. Her parents were negative so they board the flight. But this girl had to stay with us due to positive result.

6). We (10) all were very sure that this report is wrong because most of them were already infected in last 14-90 days.  We argued with the airline people. But they did not listen. and we missed our flights. 

7). At that time, we decided that lets wait till next morning and do the test again. 

8). We waited in given isolated lounge   till 11 clock next day. As we were positive, we could not stay longer in lounge. So airport authority forced us to take hotel.  There is only one hotel Aerotel on airport.

9). We went to the hotel reception, the price of hotel was 108OMR ( AROUND 20K INR). 

10) According to rule, we have to pay for 10 days at the time of checking in into the hotel. (2lakhs total package)

11). Most us were student and working, so we did not have that much money. So we requested a lot to hotel to give us discount and also requested airline people. None of them were listening to us. In this countries, you cant talk out loud or argue. They are very rude and strict.

 12). Eventually, they fooled us by saying there is an agreement between airline and agent to pay for the hotel now. Meanwhile, we were in touch with Indian Embassy. But they did not help us at all. 

13) We did the test again at 12 clock afternoon on 3 rd June and check in to the hotel. We were told that result would  take 12 hrs because it is urgent. 

14). Around, 11pm on 3rd June everyone start getting  the results. Out of 10, 7 were negative, 1 positive, 1 result in progress, 1 (me) sample is not taken yet. so, this was done purposefully to eat tickets money from all of us by airline or agent. God knows.

15). Next day morning. I tried to contact them. But i dont have any of their contact number. No airline or rt pct test center number. We requested for some contact number, but they did not give any number. I was helpless. i kept finding Numbers online and contacting different people. but no help at all. 

16) suddenly after 24 hrs, i got a call that you have to do test again so i gave sample again. In mean time, the other guy is also waiting for his result. He was told that it will take time.

17). All other negative people were trying to book the flight to Toronto via Doha on 5th June 4.40 am. They asked agency and airline that  it was not our fault, the result was wrong. So, why should they pay for the new tickets. 

Seriously, no words from agency and airline. and we wont get refund for the rest of the journey, because it was booked by agency. Oman air told they will refund money but it will go to agency account. Agency will pay you back. So no guarantee of money. Agent said the money has gone. No refund.

• So all the guys paid for the "Tickets by themselves 1100 cad". 

18). I got my result on 4th June 9pm, that i am negative.i also booked the ticket. But the other guy did not get the result. It was still in process. 

19). We all were ready to fly, we went to Oman air desk to collect our check in bags. They told they will directly pass our bags and give us new boarding pass 


20). We had a flight at 4.40 am.  Around 1.30 am we were called for check in. We went to Oman air desk. They collected all docs to give it to Qatar Airways. 

21). Around 230, Oman air told us that Qatar airways wont allow you to board flights if you haven't booked your government hotel stay in Toronto whether you are exempted or not. We argued a lot that there is no rule on Canadian government website that we have to book the hotel.  

22).Anyways they did not listen to us. So we booked the hotel stay immediately. 

23). We were at the boarding gate at Qatar airport, the manager was so rude and crooked. He checked our docs and trying to find faults. 
He was checking who paid for our tickets. He want physical cards. According to him, it has  to be pay by the passenger, no one else.

24).  Some tickets were paid by their family. That minor girl did not have her credit card because she is not eligible to get one. One another guy was arguing with that manager that where is this rule that it has to be paid by passenger only. Agent or family can pay for our tickets.

25). That guy did not listen and did not allow to board flight to 2 guys and minor girl due to their tickets were paid by someone else.

26). Out of 10, 6 were able to board the flight.. Rest has to stay at muscat airport. After the boarding time passed, the another guy who was waiting for the result got positive.

27) after we left muscat, it was very smooth, we reached Destination.

I was on the same flight and route but made it safely but at Pearson l was told by the public health official ,that they want test from last port and threatened me with fine of 3700 as my test was at Muscat and not in Frankfurt .name mentioned that they have informed one of the Travel Agencies that they are interpreting  the rule properly , they will start fining next week onwards .

• There are 4 tested and tried routes Ethiopia, Muscat, Serbia, Mexico routes.
• But these are expensive and long routes. Based on your urgency you may take these routes.
