CoWIN app is yet to
accept registrations from citizens below 45 years of age, and users also claim
that OTP is not coming on their mobile phones when they are trying to register
for the COVID-19 vaccination. The Government of India had earlier stated that the
CoWIN app and Aarogya Setu will be opened for all citizens above 18 years of
age for the COVID-19 vaccination drive that will begin from 1 May 2021.
“All citizens aged 18+ will be eligible for vaccination under Phase 3 of the
world’s Largest Vaccine Drive starting May 1, 2021. Registration will start
from 00:00 on 28 April 2021 via the CoWIN platform and the Aarogya Setu app.
India Fights Corona,” tweeted the official account of MyGovIn yesterday.
However, citizens who have been trying to register since last night have not
been able to do so until now.
“Central Government said people from age 18-45 can register for the vaccination
from 28th in CoWin but when registering it shows error saying Registration is
open for individuals with age 45 yrs r older. Center flashed the news week
before and now the site itself has not been corrected,” says a citizen.
Citizens are also claiming that they are facing issues while registering as OTP
is not coming to their registered mobile numbers. “So the registrations for
vaccines, for age group 18 to 45 are supposed to begin today. Yet,
1. The UMANG/ CoWIN
app still says registration allowed only for 45+.
2. CoWIN portal has
got issues with generating OTP
3. Arogya setu does
not open,” says Siva on Twitter.
However, registrations are expected to begin from 4 PM IST. “Registration for
18 plus to begin on http://cowin.gov.in, Aarogya Setu App & UMANG App at 4
PM on 28th April. Appointments at State Govt centers & Private centers
depending on how many vaccination centers are ready on 1st May for Vaccination
of 18 plus,” the official account of Aarogya Setu has just clarified.
